Basal organ of vascular plants ( cormus) involved mainly in photosynthesis and sexual reproduction (flowers).

The basic tissue of leaves ( structural plan) is crossed by vascular bundles. Vascular bundles from the leaves of monocotyledons are ordered in a parallel way, vascular bundles from the leaves of dicotyledons are repeatedly ramified.
