One of the large three classes of the subdivision of angiosperms.
About 180 000 species (75% of all angiosperms) are members of the rosopsida. A second, smaller and older group of dicotyledonous plants constitutes the magnoliopsida. The group covers a variety of forms from ornamental plants like larkspur or poppy to various broadleaved trees. The figure shows a flower of poppy from "Koehler´s Medizinalpflanzen" (1898).
