Sequence

Order of the different building blocks of large chain molecules (DNA, RNA, proteins).

The sequence of the twenty different building blocks (amino acids) of protein molecules is stored by the sequence of the four different building blocks (nucleotides) of DNA molecules. (And is transferred this way from generation to generation.) The sequence of three nucleotids in a DNA molecule encodes one amino acids of a protein. The various amino acids are connected to their specific nucleotide triplets by tRNA molecules. This connection is more or less identical regarding all living organisms of our planet.
