Nucleotides

Building blocks of RNA and DNA molecules consisting of a monosaccharide (ribose or deoxy-ribose), one of four possible bases and a phosphate group.

DNA is more stable than RNA and can be repaired more easily, due to a few differences between the respective nucleotides. In the case of DNA, ribose is replaced by deoxy-ribose (missing OH-group marked in green) and the base uracil by thymine.
