Negatively charged constituents of atoms (i.e. of the external sheath of atoms).

Electrons are much smaller and lighter when compared to their positively charged counterparts within the atomic nucleus, the protons. As the other constituents of atoms, electrons show typical aspects of wave-like and particle-like character at the same time. (Because of their small mass, the wave-like character is particularly pronounced in the case of electrons.)
