Production of identical copies of DNA or RNA molecules.
Clones in general are (genetically) identical copies of organisms, cells, DNA or RNA molecules. Clones of DNA or RNA molecules are produced by using the enzymes from various organisms for the multiplication of their own DNA. Short parts of sequences are multiplied using the PCR, larger DNA-fragments are introduced into bacteria and subsequently multiplied by them.
