Maple family (Aceraceae)

The maple family contains about 150 tree species worldwide.

In central europe, the large-leaved sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), the Norway maple (Acer platanoides), and the small-leaved common maple (Acer campestre) are growing. The bleeding sap of the north american sugar maple (Acer saccharum) can be used for human nutrition. The figure shows young leaves of the sycamore.
