Satellite data shape everyday life: they guide us on our ways through the town and they help predict tomorrow’s weather. In addition to this – and much more important – they provide us a novel, previously unknown picture of our planet. This presentation primarily is about this picture: How do satellites acquire their data? What are they measuring and how do they circle earth? And how can we use all these data in a meaningful way?
