Nerve tissue

Cells, which have specialized in the transmission of electrical signals along their plasma membranes.

The nerve cell shown receives electrical signals from many other cells by the highyl branched extensions of its cell body. Depending on the amount and intensity of these signals the cell will create an own signal and transmit it by its long extension to other cells (nerve cells, muscular cells).
